I invited Trump for help but NSA Ribadu redirected US troops to Sokoto, leaving Plateau, Kwara, Benue open to attacks – Rev Dachomo
March 16th, 2026
The ongoing security crisis in Nigeria’s Middle Belt has taken a new twist, as Plateau State-based clergyman, Ezekiel Dachomo accused the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, of deliberately redirecting U.S. troops to northern states dominated by Muslims, leaving Christian-majority Plateau vulnerable to Islamist attacks.
Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, the Barkin Ladi Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), said he personally appealed to President Donald Trump last year to send American forces to Plateau to tackle a wave of killings targeting Christians.
He noted that when the U.S. responded, their military efforts were concentrated in Sokoto State, targeting ISWAP, Boko Haram, and Lakurawa insurgents.
Following precision airstrikes on December 25, 2025, detachments of U.S. troops were deployed to various northern states — but Plateau was not included, an omission that Rev. Dachomo attributes to the influence of the NSA.
In a video message on Friday, the clergyman accused the NSA of orchestrating the diversion of U.S. troops to protect Muslims while leaving Christians exposed.
“When I invited Trump to Nigeria to come and help us, their (Nigerian government) blueprint was that none of the American soldiers should come to Plateau State,” Rev. Dachomo said.
“The National Security Adviser redirected the attention of the U.S. to Sokoto State and the Muslim-dominated areas in the north.
“Now the Muslims are enjoying the coming of Trump and the American soldiers. They are now saying Trump is in Nigeria to protect the Muslims.
“Christians are being killed like chickens. There are killings ongoing in Christian-dominated areas in Borno, Kwara, Kaduna, Benue, and Plateau.
“That is their roadmap to wipe out Christians in Nigeria, to make sure that nobody stands for us. It has come to a time when we must stand up and defend ourselves.
“Now the Muslims in northern Nigeria are benefitting more than the Christians who called for the help,” he added.
Last December, SaharaReporters reported that Dachomo stated that his children were being denied admission into Nigerian universities because of his public stance on the killing of Christians in Nigeria.
Rev. Dachomo had alleged that despite his children meeting all requirements for admission, they were facing repeated rejections, particularly in northern institutions, due to his outspoken position on the systemic killing of Christians by bandits and terrorists, especially in Plateau State communities.
The cleric further described the discrimination against his children as pathetic and called on Nigerian authorities not to punish them because of him, stressing that they are innocent and do not deserve such unfair treatment on account of his exposure.
According to Rev. Dachomo, his name has become a barrier to his children’s educational progress, leaving them to wonder why they should be treated in such a manner.
“My children have been denied admission into universities, especially in the North, because of my stance and position in exposing Christian genocide,” part of the statement read.
