Goods worth millions of Naira have been destroyed after a massive fire broke out at the Alaba International Market in Lagos on Tuesday night, October 21.

It is not yet certain what led to the fire outbreak. Videos shared online showed thick smoke billowing from the market as distraught traders watched helplessly while their goods were being destroyed by the fire.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service personnel were alerted and the officials worked tirelessly to put out the fire.

Located along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, Alaba International Market is one of Nigeria’s largest hubs for electronics and building materials.
