There were over one thousand health officers looking for employment at the Ochie Dike Diagnostic and Dialysis Center, Owerri, Imo State, last Monday. They came from far and wide on the invitation of the state government, over its measures to ensure that the state health sector is revitalized.
Addressing the medical officers, the state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, reminded them that the state health sector is now under the control and management of Mr. Kaskpi Yori, an Israeli, who is expected to perform above board.
The governor, who bared his mind, announced that the former health workers in the state public hospitals did not perform well, adding that a lot of deaths could have been averted if they had. He urged the new management of the state health sector to ensure that dedicated workers were employed, and warned the applicants that the new managers are foreigners who would sack anyone who toys with the job.
He made it clear to the applicants that his government has given out all the public hospitals in the state to Israelis and Indians to manage and make them perform maximally, because those who previously worked in the hospitals performed below expectations. He warned that it would no longer be business as usual as he is determined to reverse the ugly situation in the Imo health sector.
