Obiano boosts security in Anambra with 13 vehicles, 20 motorcycles

Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has presented thirteen vehicles and twenty motorcycles to security agencies to fight crime in the state.
Out of the thirteen vehicles, the police and the Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) received five each while the remaining three were handed over to the Anambra State Vigilance Services.
The twenty motorbikes were also donated to the NSCDC.
Presenting the vehicles, the governor explained that they were given out to the security agencies based on their request and to also help boost their operational capacity in ensuring that the state remains safe for its citizenry.
He noted that with his government’s mission to make the state a first choice investment destination and hub for commercial activities, it became imperative to address insecurity which had held sway in the state, hence his huge investment in the state’s security crisis.
The governor revealed that the vehicles were procured from an indigenous manufacturer in keeping with his administration’s resolve to continue to patronize locally-manufactured products.
He, however, called on the agencies to put the vehicles to proper use.
Speaking at the event, Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu said that although security was capital intensive, the present administration was not resting on its oars because it strongly believed that for any meaningful development to be actualized in the state, there must be adequate security of lives and property.
Responding, Commissioner of Police, Mr. Garba Umar hailed the governor for the gesture, describing it as clearly based on his interest in the welfare of the Anamberians, insisting that the gesture was a moral booster that would go a long way in motivating officers in the state.
